Advanced AI agent in vehicles

An emerging automotive company partnered with us to research, design, and demonstrate the future of Ambient AI to deliver a proactive and calm in-car experience defining key aspects of the AI’s intelligence and identity.

My Role

I was the Lead User Researcher, and collaborated with an additional researcher, as well as designers who supported the design artifacts used in concept validation. I designed research guides and artifacts, and led workshops with the client and team to identify the necessary objectives.

Solution

We developed an intelligent ambient AI that is always listening and watching and can even proactively jump in to help. This means it must have a range of expressive states, like listening, responding, and acting. The AI must also conform to a variety of shapes and sizes to effectively live within many spaces in the system.

User research stages

I led two stages of research:

  1. Subject Matter Expert Perspectives
  2. North American User Concept Validation

The research research incorporated early learnings from market research, and concepts in the early stages of development. The research informed the evolution of the concepts, and provided validation of the proposed solutions for users.
